Simon belmont vs jonathan joestar2/29/2024 ![]() These friends are so loyal that they continued to help years later by protecting the hero’s children (Speedwagon helping Erina raise George & later Joseph and Timon & Pumbaa watching over Kiara when her parents weren’t around). This includes goofy and lovable social outcasts that saw the heroes as new family (Speedwagon who was a delinquent and Timon & Pumbaa who were rejected from both their homes). The heroes contrast in how they felt towards their evil relative (Jonathan was always suspicious of his stepbrother & eventually discovered Dio’s plot to kill their father while Simba loved his uncle & for years had no idea that Scar was responsible for his father’s death).Įither way, the end result remained the same as they would be completely devastated at the sight of their fathers death and would narrowly avoid getting killed themselves (George sacrificing himself by taking the attack meant for Jonathan then Jonathan surviving the fight in the mansion and Mufasa saving Simba from the stampede then Simba outrunning the hyenas sent by Scar).Īround this time they would make new friends that would follow them through the rest of their journey. The villains would also force themselves onto the protagonist’s love interest just to be a dick (Dio forcing a kiss onto Erina and Scar attempting to force Nala to be his queen in a deleted scene) which cause the love interest to leave (Erina moving away out of shame and Nala being banished for refusing Scar) but they would thankfully reunite with the hero after years of not seeing them. They had notable name changes, an act of rejecting their family, but for contrasting reasons (Dio removing his last name to emphasize his ascension to godhood and Taka/Askari’s name changing to Scar to remind him of his failure). These villains had a hatred for their family since childhood for acts against them that would turn them into the fiends they are now (Dio hating his father for being abusive and Scar hating his family for looking down on him), a relationship we see further explored in spin-off books of dubious canon (Over Heaven and A Tale of Two Brothers). The father’s fatal flaw was not seeing the true darkness in people, for both would have a close relative (George’s stepson Dio Brando and Mufasa’s brother Scar) that gave the outward appearance of being snarky yet well-meaning family, but in reality were manipulative wicked men that wanted to kill the relative (Dio slowly poisoning & eventually stabbing George and Scar throwing Mufasa over a cliff) for the sake of gaining power (Dio wanting to take over the Joestar estate & eventually the world and Scar taking over the Pride Lands). However after facing a family tragedy, they would grow up and become noble, brave heroes that fight a familial evil and establish a new legendary dynasty to proceed them.īoth were raised by wise and loving fathers (George Joestar and Mufasa) that would scorn their kids for their youthful misbehavior (Jonathan getting into fights and Simba sneaking into dangerous places) because they saw it as important to instill lessons on how to be a proper man (George teaching how to be a true gentleman and Mufasa teaching what it means to be a king) and the virtues of helping others. ![]() Both are young protagonists that came from a family of high status who in their youth were good hearted yet overly prideful and reckless.
